Meaning of Stunned

The adjective stunned is linked to the verb stun: to upset, alter, confuse or confuse. He who is stunned, therefore, suffers from lightheadedness (a temporary disorder of the senses or the ability to reason).

For example: “The blow to the head left me somewhat stunned”, “I think the president is stunned: he should analyze the situation calmly and make smarter decisions”, “The young man was found by an agent while walking through the streets in a daze from the center ”.

It is said that a subject is stunned when, after suffering an impact on his head, he suffers a state of confusion that prevents him from seeing, hearing, speaking or thinking normally. Trauma to the head can cause a concussion because the blow affects neurons.

A car accident, a blow while playing a sport, or a fall from a considerable height can cause a person to be stunned. Sometimes the condition reverses spontaneously in a short time, while in other cases medical assistance is required.

The light-headedness that people usually feel after an impact leads to dizziness: in addition to not being able to clearly perceive the sensory stimuli that surround them, they believe that they are going to lose their balance and collapse at any moment. When a health professional approaches a patient with such a condition, they usually ask a series of questions to assess the situation and know how to proceed.

Depending on the severity of the case and the stability of the patient, the doctor may ask you to place yourself in different positions and postures, asking you at each step if you experience any improvement; For example, you can tell him to sit up and lie down, and then ask him if the feeling of dizziness goes away or decreases and if he stops feeling groggy.

It is also said that someone is in a daze when he acts recklessly: that is, when he does not reflect on his actions. An excess of information, the need to solve something quickly or external pressures can lead an individual to be stunned: “Wait a moment, I am stunned: let me see the balance sheets of the last semesters and then I will give you my opinion”, ” I don’t think it is convenient to rush Osvaldo, I notice him stunned by the news ”.

In this less literal sense, lightheadedness is related to stress, and that is why it is necessary to find the reason for this feeling to solve the root problem. If a person is going through a too difficult stage, full of pressures and demands that do not allow him to think clearly, it is normal for him to lose the perception of his own faculties and to enter a state in which everything seems impossible to solve.

Feeling groggy when faced with a difficult situation is not synonymous with lacking the necessary skills to overcome it, but rather not being able to focus to understand how to do it. Acoustic stunned, after all, occurs when the ear receives excessive noise or sounds that are difficult to distinguish, especially with an intensity that exceeds the decibels that the ear is capable of supporting.

The generalized anxiety disorders cause various symptoms, including those found confusion, dizziness, headache and mental daze. Although there are people who only go through this sensation at specific moments, there are others who must endure it for several hours. Mental daze does not allow the development of daily activities, not even the less complex, such as making the shopping list. The definitive solution consists in eliminating what causes anxiety; intermediate methods for reducing discomfort include relaxation, meditation, and breathing exercises.
